The Carlos Rosario School’s annual Spelling Bee on May 5 – 6 generated lots of enthusiasm from students and teachers alike. During the two weeks leading up to the school-wide event, students studied their word lists and teachers held classroom activities to practice spelling the words.

In-class spelling bees were then held and two finalists from each class advanced to the second round. Hundreds of students gathered in the auditorium to support their classmates and to see who would win. The excitement mounted as the last few remaining spellers duked it out over words from the “lightning” round before a winner could be declared. Winners from the Morning program were Askale Araya (Orientation A), Huijie Zhang (ESL 5), and Jose Marco Artiga (GED 200). The Afternoon program’s winners were Meriyama Abadiga (Orientation A) and Yiyin Gu (Vocabulary Class), and winners from the Evening program were Rina Marisol Romero (ESL 3) and Deybis Alvarez (Microsoft Office Applications class). Congratulations to our winners and to all of our spellers for their hard work and commitment to their education!!
