Februarys Shining Star is Santos Lopez.
Santos Lopez came to this country from El Salvador with four years of elementary school education and without any knowledge of English. In 2004, he enrolled in beginning English as a Second Language classes at the Carlos Rosario School and has since successfully completed Carlos Rosarios highest ESL Level. During the 2006-2007 school year, Santos completed the Schools 10-month Culinary Arts Program and was honored as the student with the "Greatest Academic Achievement". He then enrolled in the Schools GED program and passed the GED exam in 2009, earning his high school credential. Santos is now working as a Grill Cook at The Fairfax at Embassy Row Hotel in Washington, DC. Congratulations, Santos!
