Sara’s Journey: From GED to a Career in Healthcare

Sara joined Carlos Rosario School with one goal in mind: to complete their high school education and build a better future for themself. Through the GED program, the support of teachers like Miss Patricia and Mr. Brad, and the encouragement of the peers they now call their “GED family,” Sara persevered and earned their GED.

Today, Sara is taking the next step in their journey through the Nurse Aide Training program at our Sonia Gutiérrez Campus. After graduation, they hope to pursue higher education and continue exploring a career in healthcare.

Sara never expected to earn their high school credential through a GED program, but their experience at Carlos Rosario School turned out to be an important part of their journey. They describe it as “amazing” and say the experience gave them more than an academic achievement.

“I wasn’t just moving forward academically, but also in life.”

For Sara, earning their GED was about more than completing their education. It gave them greater confidence and helped them take the first step toward their career goals.

Starting something new can be challenging, especially for adult learners returning to school. Sara remembers feeling nervous at first, but quickly found a welcoming and supportive community.

“It’s scary at first, but the whole environment of the classes is welcoming and understanding. By the second day, you had so much support from teachers and peers.”

Sara’s story is a reminder that there is no single path to achieving your goals. With determination, support, and a willingness to take the next step, adult learners can continue their education, build confidence, and create new opportunities for their future.

Sara’s journey is still just beginning.
