On Wednesday, October 9th the Carlos Rosario School celebrated the opening of the Sonia Gutierrez Campus with an event that featured remarks from elected officials, community and school leaders.
More than 250 guests received tours of the building that included demonstrations by students of the culinary arts, computer support specialist and nurse aide training programs.
Mayor Vincent Gray provided remarks during the opening ceremony, saying “[This ceremony] is a powerful statement about the work that Sonia has done for so many years in this city. This is absolutely a wonderful statement about the continuing investment in education.”
Ms. Sonia Gutierrez recognized 40th Anniversary donors Meyer Foundation, Bank of America, and Marriott Foundation, and acknowledged celebration sponsors and other supporters.
Ms. Sonia Gutierrez told the crowd, “Today we celebrate the power of the human spirit.”
